Dont Jump Right In
I have the problem of when I walk in I want to get right in to it and knock out my morning must do’s. But there is a lot to be said for taking a breath. I have tried to make it a habit to come in, get my desk set up, take out my planner and make my coffee after saying good morning to people. This tends to make me a lot more productive for the rest of the day.
Make a Daily To do List
Most of us have things that we need to do every single day. I keep a list o’f these in my planner as my daily to do list. When things become habit we can let them fall to the wayside. Having this list helps keep me on track, even if they are things that I already know I have to do. Anything else can be added on and checked off but having that starting point.
Turn Off Your Notifications
Technology is so great. It has enabled us to do so much so much more efficiantly. But it can be such a pain in the butt too! TO be more effective and be more focused, try turning off the notifications on your computer so that you aren’t constantly switching in between your email and whatever you are trying to do.
Walk Around a Bit
Every hour get up and take a quick rock. Nothing crazy. Just walk to the bathroom or something so that your blood moves around and you refresh yourself. If you have time on your lunch break try and get outside for some fresh air as well. You are going to be more aware.
It is so easy to fall into bad habits at work. Getting away from any weight or work out goals though, foods that are bad for you will make you feel sluggish and sometimes even make you feel mentally foggy. I’m not going to lie. I get a lot of satisfaction out of being the one at work that brings in the foods that everyone is either in awe of or sometimes even think are a little weird. Be mindful of your snacking and eat the right things that will give you energy, not take it away. Chances are of its brought into the typical office, its probably not the best choice. That is not to say that you shouldn’t indulge once in a while though.
Drink Plenty of Water
Water water water. I say it during work out posts and I’m going to say it here too. Drink all of your water. I bring a 32 ounce Hydroflask to work and know that I need to drink two of them a day. Like my walking I set a timer on my phone and make sure to drink as much as I can. This is turn will make you get up and walk to the bathroom to pee. Something that you also need to be doing.
Okay So I know we all want to live in that sidcom bubble where we are all besties at work but the truth is that you don’t need to be chatter boxes at work. I like my coworkers. I do! But you don’t need to be best friends with them. There is a benefit to being friendly but not being too friendly with everyone that you work with.
What are some other things that you all find that make you more productive at work?
